Fireside Chat With David Heurtel


We are excited to announce that David Heurtel, former Quebec Minister of the Environment and Minister of Immigration will be the keynote speaker for our first Fireside Chat Event of 2023. Having spearheaded Quebec government policy on two major files, which today are among the most visible and debated policy areas, we are fortunate to have Mr. Heurtel join us for an exchange which will be moderated by our own Rhodes Scholar, Joanna Klimczak.

David Heurtel is Counsel at Fasken. He advises clients on a wide range of issues including Government and Public Relations, Environment, Energy, and Climate Change, ESG and Immigration. David is also a Host and a Political Analyst on News Talk Radio CJAD 800 and does political analysis for CTV News Montreal and CBC News Network’s Power & Politics.

Prior to Fasken, David was a member of the Quebec National Assembly representing the provincial riding of Viau from 2013 to 2018, serving in Quebec’s Liberal government in major roles as Minister for Sustainable Development, the Environment and the Fight against Climate Change from 2014 to 2017 and as Minister of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusiveness from 2017 to 2018. Before entering politics, David was CEO of Montreal’s Olympic Park from 2011 to 2013.

He serves on several boards most notably as Chair of the Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) and of l’École de la Relève; David a member of the Écotech Québec board and of the Inlandsis Fund’s Strategic Committee. From 2018 to 2022, David was Adjunct Professor in the Masters of Public Policy and Public Administration program at Concordia University.
