The Michener–Bredin Trophy | We are very excited to announce the 40th anniversary of the first Oxford vs Cambridge Alumni Cricket Match played in 1982 in Toronto, will take place this year on Sunday September 18th at Noon at Upper Canada College.
The game will be played at the Lords Ground at Upper Canada College in Toronto. Upper Canada College previously hosted the game for many years and it is very exciting to be playing the game at UCC again. Major thanks must be given to Kate Moss Gamblin who has worked with cricketing alumni, UCC alumni and the principal of UCC to make this happen and return the game to its spiritual home.

The 40th anniversary will be marked with a new trophy called the ‘Michener-Bredin Trophy’. This marks the contributions of two of the founders and instrumental characters of the game Terence Bredin and Roland Michener. The trophy has generously been funded by alumni of the cricket match as well as a contribution from the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Toronto.
Match details include:
- 25 overs each side, red ball, whites
- Tea break between innings – food and drinks provided
- Match fee ~$25
The game is open to all levels of players, young and old, as well as spectators who would like to enjoy watching the game. As part of the day’s festivities we would like to put together some stories and photos from previous year’s games.
From you all we need the following information:
1. Are you available to play or spectate on Sunday September 18th?
2. Do you have any photos and stories of previous matches which you would be happy to share with us?
3. Do you know any other alumni who would be interested in playing? Please forward this email to them or send us their contact details.
If you can RSVP with your availability by August 31st that would be appreciated.
